What does a School Counselor Do? Counselors support student development in three main areas: Academic Planning College & Career Research (our C&CCtr is your 1st stop!) Social & Emotional Support How does our State and National Association guide our work? TDOE’s Model & Standards for School Counselors: begins 2018-19 American School Counselor Association’s (ASCA) statement on the Role of the High School Counselor

What Does This Look Like? Governor’s School 6 Week Summer Residential Program on 8 different college campuses 11 Programs including Fine Arts The brightest and most talented 10th and 11th grade TN High School students. Application process includes essays, teacher recommendations, counselor recommendations, transcript, and ACT and or PSAT scores. Applications available on our website but due in Counseling Office in October for the Arts and November for the remaining schools.
