Types of Designers In house Freelance Subcontracted

In House Designers Work for a company Anything designed whilst working there belongs to the company (a contract is signed) Company have IPR to protect designs Earn a salary paid by company

Freelance Designers Work for themselves They have IPR to their designs but they must protect them through means of patent etc They sell their designs to companies May find it difficult to earn money as may not be able to sell their designs

Subcontracted Designers Work for a themselves but are hired by companies for periods of time Company has IPR to any designs produced whilst working for company but anything done outwith this time must be protected by designer A contract is signed between company and designer Paid by company for period of time they work there May not make money when not employed by company
