Plot On his birthday, Omri is given several gifts, including an old wooden cupboard and a small plastic toy of a Native American man. When he locks the toy inside the cabinet it magically comes to life as a tiny, warrior named Little Bear (Litefoot). Omri decides to make other toys come to life. Little Bear becomes hurt, and Omri has to tak care of him. While he does this, he comes to realize that Little Bear is a person and not a toy. He learns that life is precious and becomes more responsible and mature.

Characters Main Characters Secondary Characters Omri: Main character of the book(Protagonist)  Patrick: Omri's best friend Little Bear: The brave toy indian that Patrick gives Omri for his birthday that becomes his friend and his secret. Boone- The toy cowboy that belongs to Patrick. Omri's Older Brothers: They give him the magical cupboard for his birthday. Omri's Parents- minor characters that Omri must hide his secret from.

Setting This story takes place in England Most of the story is at school or in Omri's room.

Favorite Quote/ Favorite Part Little Bear: “Are we always a great people?” Omri: “You are always a great people, but it's not always so good.” Pg. 135 This is a quote from my favorite part of the book, because Omri is realizing that Little Bear is a real person, with a real life and history. He’s done research on the Native Americans and he knows what the future holds for Little Bear. Omri is starting to understand that he is playing with people’s lives- not just toys and it is a point where he is changing as a character from a little boy to a more mature young man.

Book Review I give this book 4/5 stars! I enjoyed the book because it was a fantasy. There was magic and mystery that kept your attention. I was annoyed by Omri at the beginning because he didn’t seem to realize that he was hurting Little Bear with his childish ways only thinking he was a toy and not a real person. I don’t give this book 5 full stars because I think there are parts when they talked about the history of the Indians that were kind of boring and confusing to read. They were important to help Omri understand and change in the book.

Climax The climax of the story was when Little Bear and Boone got into a fight, like the Cowboys and Indians of the past- shooting and arrow. Little Bear shot Boone with an arrow. Boone was seriously hurt. Since he was little, Little Bear had to take care of him because Omri and Patrick wouldn’t be able to. Little Bear didn’t want to help his enemy and it was uncertain if Boone would survive. Free choice slide

Lynne Reid Banks About the Author British writer best known for her bestselling novel The Indian in the Cupboard. She was born on July 31st, 1929 in London, England. Her mother took her to Canada during World War II to escape the Nazis and she spent five years in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. After the war she returned to London. She became one of the first women in Britain to work as a television journalist. She moved to Israel in 1962 where she worked as a teacher. Free choice slide
