Academic Guidelines set by KSHSAA & Blue Valley School District Must pass 5 new subjects the preceding semester and be enrolled in 5 new subjects during the semesters of participation. Must have a 2.0 GPA and maintain that minimum GPA during each quarter of participation. Failure to maintain that GPA will result in probation. Co-Curricular Activity Cheer class is held during the 1st semester only, 7th Hour. Cheerleaders receive a “K” – elective credit only – for class. New this year, the class will be for a grade instead of Pass/Fail. Class takes the place of most outside practice. There will be additional practices called as needed for upcoming events, such as competition. Class is led by coaches and captains. It is a structured practice with warm ups and stretches, followed by work on performances (routines, techniques, cheers, stunting, as applicable) Co-Curricular Activity

Selection Criteria 30% Teacher Recommendations 70% Judges Scores 7 teacher recommendations from their current school year. 4 of the recommendations must come from teachers in the core academic areas (science, math, social studies, English, and/or world language). Returning members will have Coach Williamson fill out 1 recommendation form All recs will be destroyed to ensure teacher confidentiality. 70% Judges Scores There will be a panel of 5 - 7 judges selected from the following areas: Cheer instructors from recognized associations Cheerleaders from colleges, universities, or professional sports Cheerleader coaches from other schools Alumni cheerleaders Selection Criteria

Teacher Recommendations Form was revised by district coaches and administrators to be consistent between all 5 high schools. Complete teacher recommendation packet and turn their forms into their teachers at school. Forms are delivered to all teachers at all schools. Teachers will complete the rec forms and return to a manila envelope in the office at BVSW and Aubry Bend. Coaches will collect these envelopes: Thursday, April 6 at 3:30pm Any forms not turned in will not count for the candidate’s score. Returning spirit squad members must have Coach Williamson complete a recommendation. It will count for the full 30%. Teacher Recommendations
