Brief Bio Full name: Salvador Felipe Jacinto Dalí y Domenech Born: May 11, 1904 in Figueres, Spain Parents: Salvador Dalí y Cusi (lawyer) and Felipa Domenech Ferres Siblings: Salvador (died 9 months before) and Ana Maria Wife: Elena Dmitrievna Diakonova Died: January 23, 1989 in Figueres, Spain Salvador Dalí is notorious for his colorful personality, appearance, and usual behavior almost as much as his artwork

Childhood Dalí’s father was very strict and his mother indulged his eccentricities – both parents supported his artistic talent He attended drawing school in Figueres in 1916 In 1919 Salvador had his first public exhibition (charcoal drawings) In 1921, Dalí’s mother died of breast cancer (he was 16)

Artistic Style and Inspiration Dalí met and was inspired by many famous artists including: Diego Velázquez (moustache), Pablo Picasso (Cubism), Joan Miró, and René Magritte (Surrealism) Salvador Dalí worked in the styles of Impressionism, Futurism, and Cubism.
