Parenting your Middle Schoolers Establishing identity Developing achievement preferences Establishing personal autonomy Listen often & refrain from judgement Help them set attainable, short term goals Set clear expectations & boundaries Keep a sense of humor!

Whatever you do, don’t think your child doesn’t need you as much as he/she did in those younger days. If anything middle schoolers need their families more! They want a different kind of relationship with you, one with more maturity and independence, but they want as much time and attention from you as before. ----- Help I’ve Got a Middle Schooler -How many of you are first time parents of middle schoolers? -We know this is a huge transition, but we are here to partner with you and do this together. -We want you here, volunteering and involved. We will find a place so that you aren’t invading your child’s space. – we will talk about this a little more later one.

SCHEDULE FOR TONIGHT 20 minutes in each session (topics are repeated) 5 minute transition You have the option of attending just 1 or both presentations tonight Sessions: Student Life and Involvement (Commons) Advanced Pathway Panel of Teachers (Library) (Math, Science, LA)
