Lessons from Isaiah Another Realm How the Bible describes our relationship with God; it is not a static condition but a dynamic companionship that moves from its beginning to its appointed destination – D. A. Carson May 21, 2017

Isaiah 2:1 The word that Isaiah the son of Amoz saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem.

Isaiah 2:2 It shall come to pass in the latter days that the mountain of the house of the Lord shall be established as the highest of the mountains, and shall be lifted up above the hills; and all the nations shall flow to it,

2 Corinthians 4:17 For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison,

Mark 10:30 …who will not receive a hundredfold now in this time, houses and brothers and sisters and mothers and children and lands, with persecutions, and in the age to come eternal life.

James 1:12 Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love him.

Revelation 2:10 Do not fear what you are about to suffer. Behold, the devil is about to throw some of you into prison, that you may be tested, and for ten days you will have tribulation. Be faithful unto death, and I will give you the crown of life.

Tribulation John 16:33(b) - In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world. Romans 12:12 - Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer.

Isaiah 2:2 It shall come to pass in the latter days that the mountain of the house of the Lord shall be established as the highest of the mountains, and shall be lifted up above the hills; and all the nations shall flow to it,

Isaiah 2:3 and many peoples shall come, and say: “Come, let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, to the house of the God of Jacob, that He may teach us His ways and that we may walk in His paths.”

Isaiah 2:3 and many peoples shall come, and say: “Come, let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, to the house of the God of Jacob, that He may teach us His ways and that we may walk in His paths.”

Isaiah 2:3 and many peoples shall come, and say: “Come, let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, to the house of the God of Jacob, that He may teach us His ways and that we may walk in His paths.”

Calvin But we ought also to observe, that the commandments of God are called ways and paths, in order to inform us that they go miserably astray who turn aside from them in the smallest degree.

One Degree Variance: One foot .02 inches off 100 yards 5.2 feet off 1 Mile 92.2 feet off 60 miles 1 mile off JFK to LAX 50 miles off So, the longer you travel off course, the further you will be away from the intended target.

Psalm 1:1 Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked,

Galatians 5:16 But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.

Isaiah 2:4 He shall judge between the nations, and shall decide disputes for many peoples; and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruning hooks; nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war anymore.

Isaiah 2:5 O house of Jacob, come, let us walk in the light of the Lord.

For Our Consideration How does knowing that there is another realm beyond this one help us? How can we change our perspective regarding heartache, suffering, trials, even death? What does it mean to learn God’s ways? What does it mean to walk in God’s light and path?

Prayer Focus Thank You Lord for the invitation to come to You and learn Your ways Thank You for the gift of Your Holy Word to instruct us in truth and wisdom Thank You for salvation, adoption, and Your abundant grace Thank You for another day to walk with You
