CONSISTORY MEETING AUGUST 9, 2016 THIS TUESDAY Education Building Room 3 – 7:00pm

Bayshore Gardens Community Church Believing, Again Gaining Hope Caring Relationships Christ Jesus

THE CALL TO WORSHIP God will be the sure foundation for your times, (Pastor / CONGREGATION) [ Isaiah 33:6; 1 Corinthians 3:11 ] God will be the sure foundation for your times, HE WILL BE A RICH STORE OF SALVATION and wisdom and knowledge; REVERENCE FOR THE LORD is the key to this treasure. FOR NO ONE CAN LAY ANY FOUNDATION other than the one already laid WHICH IS JESUS CHRIST OUR LORD.

THE OPENING HYMN #128 I SING THE MIGHTY POWER OF GOD

I sing the mighty power of God (1) That made the mountains rise, That spread the flowing seas abroad, And built the lofty skies. I sing the wisdom that ordained The sun to rule by day; The moon shines full at His command And all the stars obey.

I sing the goodness of the Lord (2) That filled the earth with food; He formed the creatures with His Word And then pronounced them good. Lord, how Your wonders are displayed Where e’er I turn my eye. If I survey the ground I tread Or gaze upon the sky!

There’s not a plant or flower below (3) But makes Your glories known; And clouds arise and tempests blow By order from Your throne. While all that borrows life from You Is ever in Your care, And everywhere that we can be, You, God, are present there.

THE ASSURANCE OF PARDON SILENT PRAYERS OF THANKSGIVING AND CONFESSION THE ASSURANCE OF PARDON Psalm 139:23-24   Search me, O God, and know my heart; Test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.

I’m learning to lean on Jesus; Finding more power  (Praising God for the forgiveness of our sins) #534 Learning to lean, I’m learning to lean on Jesus; Finding more power than I’d ever dreamed, I’m learning to lean on Jesus. (Please Repeat) 

A TIME OF SHARING WITH GOD’S CHILDREN OF ALL AGES

Read By Deacon Melinda Post THE HEBREW SCRIPTURE Daniel 6:13-23 Read By Deacon Melinda Post The governors [who were opposed to and jealous of Daniel] said to Darius, the King, “Daniel, one of the exiles from Judah, pays no attention to you, O king, or to the interdict you have signed, but he is saying prayers to his God three times a day.” When the king heard the charge, he was very distressed [because He cared much for Daniel]. So he was determined to save Daniel, and until the sun went down, the King made every effort to rescue Daniel.

Then the conspirators came to the king and said to him, “Know, O king, that it is a law of the Medes and Persians that no interdict or ordinance that the king establishes can be changed.” So the king [with great reluctance] gave the command, and Daniel was brought and thrown into the den of lions. The king said to Daniel, “May your God, whom you faithfully serve, deliver you!” A stone was brought and laid on the mouth of the den, and the king sealed it with his own signet and with the signet of his lords, so that nothing might be changed concerning Daniel.

Then the king went to his palace and spent the night fasting Then the king went to his palace and spent the night fasting. No food was brought to him, and sleep fled from him. Then, at break of day, the king got up and hurried to the den of lions. When he came near the den where Daniel was, he cried out anxiously to Daniel, “O Daniel, servant of the living God, has your God whom you faithfully serve been able to deliver you from the lions?” Then Daniel said to the king, “O king, live forever! My God sent his angel and shut the lions' mouths so that they would not hurt me, because I was found blameless before Him; and also before you, O king, I have done no wrong."

Then the king was exceedingly glad and commanded that Daniel be taken up out of the den. So Daniel was taken up out of the den, and no kind of harm was found on him, because he had trusted in his God.

THE SONG OF PREPARATION #214 He Has Made Me Glad

with thanksgiving in my heart; I will enter His courts with praise. I will enter His gates with thanksgiving in my heart; I will enter His courts with praise. I will say “This is the day that the Lord has made” I will rejoice for He has made me glad; He has made me glad; I will rejoice for He has made me glad. Please Repeat --

I will enter His gates with thanksgiving in my heart; I will enter His courts with praise. I will say “This is the day that the Lord has made” I will rejoice for He has made me glad; He has made me glad; He has made me glad I will rejoice for He has made me glad.

CONSISTENT in character  PERSISTENT in struggles  RESISTENT against evil

Daniel was stripped of everything including his own name. Daniel renamed to Belteshazzar Hananiah renamed to Shadrach Mishael renamed to Meshach Azariah renamed to Abednigo Yet, they were absolutely determined to never compromise their relationship with God

we are expected to live to a of morality, virtue and Godliness. The Bible is very clear that, even though we live IN the world, we are not to compromise WITH the world. As believers, we are expected to live to a HIGHER STANDARD of morality, virtue and Godliness.

The kind of FOUNDATION upon which our lives are built. Jesus talked about this firm foundation in Matthew 7:24-27

‘HOW FIRM A FOUNDATION’ THE CLOSING HYMN #526 ‘HOW FIRM A FOUNDATION’

(1) How firm a foundation, you saints of the Lord, Is laid for your faith in His excellent Word! What more can He say than to you He has said, To you who for refuge to Jesus have fled.

(2) Fear not, I am with you; O be not dismayed, For I am your God and will still give you aid. I’ll strengthen you, help you, and cause you to stand, Upheld by My righteous, omnipotent hand.

(3) When through fiery trials, your pathway shall lie, My grace, all sufficient, shall be your supply: The flame shall not hurt you; I only design Your loss to make strong, and your gold to refine.

(4) The soul that on Jesus has leaned for repose, I will not, I will not desert to His foes; That soul, though all hell should endeavor to shake, I’ll never, no never, no never forsake!

THE PASTORAL BENEDICTION Go forth from this place as God’s elect and covenant people . . . AMEN
