Avelina Cerra Secondary School

By Belén I am going to talk about our Secondary School in Ribadesella. It is a very large and very welcoming school. I like it because it has a lot of space to move and have fun. Its name is Avelina Cerra, it is called that way because that woman was the one who gave the ground to build the school. The school is located next to the sea. It has got three floors, with a classroom for almost all classes. In short, it is a good centre, big, cozy and where you learn a lot.

Library

By Rodrigo Our library is small but it’s got a lot of books and comics. There are computers too and you can do your work if you haven’t got a computer at home. The library is a quiet hall where you can study.

Gym

By Altea The gym is very spacious and bright. There are two doors, the main one and another to go outside. When we enter through the front door we first see many benches along the gym and above them there are bars to work and above these there are the windows. If we look to the left we see mattresses and the secondary door. And if we go to the right there is a blackboard for explanations and a bench.

By Altea And then, there are two doors that are the changing rooms on the left for boys and on the right for girls. Inside everything is the same, some toilets, a toilet for the disabled and some benches, and finally the showers. And there is a room where all the materials are stored and a room for the teacher with a computer and some furniture.

ICT Classrooms

By Ignacio We have got 4 ICT classrooms. The most important is Projects + that has got 18 computers and it is on the ground floor. Then, on the first floor, there is classroom 04 that has got 8 computers, the physics laboratory with 10, but that’s not all, we also have some portable computers in classrooms 05 and 06. Finally, on the second floor, there is Info 2 that has got 20 computers.

Playtime + Classroom

By Celia This is a nice place where you can go in the breaks. This place is on the ground floor. You can find there tables with chairs, sofas and there are two computers where we can look for the information we need, we can play,  we can talk and we really enjoy being there! We have a good time in the “playtime+ classroom”.

Offices

By María On the ground floor there are all the offices. First, on the right, it is the reception. Then, on the left, it is the secretary’s office and the staff room. At the end of the corridor it is the head teacher’s office, the director of studies’ office,  the counselor’s office,  and a small office to meet families. Next to the café it is the assembly hall and another office used to have other meetings.

Café

By Jesús Our school café is a bit small, luckily there are not many people sitting, although it is very crowded when the recess begins. Javier and Luisa work there serving the food and drinks, they work very well. The café itself is very nice, on the walls there are drawings of comics like Batman or Superman. It is very cool and unusual. They serve food like sandwiches, snacks, and drinks like coffees, chocolates and many more products.

Playgrounds

By Raúl In our high school we have got three playgrounds, the front playground, the playground at the back next to the car park and the playground in the centre of the building. In the back playground we have got two sport courts. At the front playground we have got a field with some  picnic tables, some benches, trees, and plants. In the playground in the middle of the building we have got a table tennis.

Sports Courts

By Miguel At Avelina Cerra Secondary School we have a basketball court and a football pitch outside. There is also a place to play handball, volleyball or table tennis. We also have a gym, where we have physical education classes when it is cold or rainy. When the weather is good, our P.E. classes are outside, in spring we even go to the beach to play different sports. Our teacher is called Miguel, he teaches physical education to many students at school. Lately, we are doing many physical tests.

Classroom 5

By Lucía I’m going to write about classroom 5. In this classroom we learn English, Maths, Spanish, Geography and more subjects. It’s medium-size. It has got a computer and  a screen next to the teacher’s table. We’ve got 5 desks with 4 places in each one. It has got a bookcase with a lot of books. And finally, we have 20 mini-laptops in a large table at the back of the classroom.

Science Lab Classroom

By Mario I’m going to talk about  the science lab classroom. It’s on the first floor. It’s very big, with some large tables with chairs among them for students to sit. Around the class there are a lot of representations of the human body, boxes with minerals and more objects. Our biology teacher is called Begoña. Last week we worked in pairs on a project about minerals with her help.

Art Classroom

By Marcos I’m going to talk about my art classroom. The art classroom is on the first  floor, it’s big and it has got many drawings on the walls. We leave the artistic items there and we have a lot of material to draw, paint…, what makes it easier. There is only one blackboard at the front of the classroom. Our art teacher’s name is Manuela. She’s a good teacher and she draws very well. We like working with her.

Music Classroom

By Óscar I’m going to talk about my music classroom. The class is on the second floor. It’s very big, bigger than our class. From there we can see the beach. In the background there are lot of musical instruments. There is a speaker on each corner. There is also a TV. Our music teacher’s name is Marta. She sometimes plays us the piano, she plays very well.
