The Introduction of Music in a New Digital Format is Resulting in The Death of CD’s

The Life of Compact Disc’s Introduced in the early 80’s Replaced LP’s and cassette tapes Sales increased so dramatically into the mid to late 80’s that companies such as Sony and Phillips were unable to supply the demand In 2000 global sales of CD albums peaked at 2.455 billion

Introduction of the MP3 Technology developed by Fraunhofer Gesellschaft in the 90’s 1999 MP3 players began to sold on the market Benefit was that 12 times the data was now able to be stored without losing sound quality This saw the decrease in sales of CD’s and the take off of sales of MP3 players
