3 GENERAL Always use your Administration Guide for every administration, even if you administer the Tejas LEE on a handheld device. When re-administering a section at MOY, administer all of the items, even if the student had some correct at BOY.

4 GENERAL Use your professional judgment to decide whether to count comprehension questions correct when the student answer isn’t in the Teacher’s Guide. Do not pause an administration in the middle of a section. Pause only between sections. Both reading comprehension stories should be administered together as they are ONE section.

5 KINDERGARTEN Be sure to give both practice items before continuing on with the actual test items. Students must provide real or nonsense rhyming words. OPTIONAL Section: The NE Performance Level is eliminated at MOY as students should have mastered this skill (NI=0-7, D=8-10). Sections 1 & 2: The NI Performance Level is raised (NI=0-18, NE=19-25, D=26-30).

6 KINDERGARTEN Section 3: The NE Performance Level does not exist for MOY (NI=0-3, D=4-5). Sections 4 & 5: The NE Performance Level does not exist for MOY (NI=0-9, D=10-12).

7 KINDERGARTEN Sections 6 and 7: An NI Performance Level now exists (NI=0-4, NE=5-6, D=7-8). Section 8: An NI Performance Level now exists (NI=0-3, NE=4-6, D=7-8).

8 KINDERGARTEN Section 9: An NI Performance Level now exists (NI=0-3, NE=4-8, D=9-10).

KINDERGARTEN 9 Section 10: NEW Story, “Arturo Araña”. Section 10: Two of the Listening Comprehension questions are Implicit.

10 KINDERGARTEN Entry Point Rules apply to Sections 1-9 and the Optional Section. If a student scored Desarrollado at BOY, these sections should not be re-administered. Entry Point Rules DO NOT apply to Listening Comprehension. This section is ALWAYS administered.

11 FIRST GRADE Sections 3 & 4: The NE Performance is eliminated at MOY as students should have mastered this skill (NI=0-13, D=14-16). Sections 5 & 6: An NI Performance Level now exists (NI=0-4, NE=5-8, D=9-10).

12 FIRST GRADE Section 7: The NI Performance Level is raised (NI=0-8, NE=9-12, D=13-15).

FIRST GRADE 13 Section 8: NEW Stories, “El charco” and “La mariposa”. There are now 8 comprehension questions for each story.

14 FIRST GRADE Section 9: **NEW** Spelling is administered for the first time, but ONLY to those who scored D or NE on Sections 3 & 4. For students who scored NI on Sections 3 & 4, administration ends with Section 8.

FIRST GRADE 15 Entry Point Rules apply to Sections 1-7. If a student scored Desarrollado at BOY, these sections should not be re-administered. Entry Point Rules DO NOT apply to Reading Comprehension. This section is ALWAYS administered. Always administer BOTH stories regardless of student performance on story 1.

16 SECOND GRADE All three sections must be given at each time point. Section 1: The NI Performance Level is raised (NI=0-9, NE=10-12, D=13-15). Section 1 is the ONLY Section for which Entry Point Rules apply. DO: Walk participants through flowchart logic. Sección 1: Reconocimiento de las palabas Sección 2: Comprehensión de lectura Sección 3: Dictado Remind participants that there is a copy of this administration sequence in their participant packet. © 2011, The University of Houston and The Texas Education Agency

17 SECOND GRADE All three sections must be given at each time point. Section 2: NEW Stories, “Una tarde de lluvia” and “La granja”.

23 MPLE General: If a student was previously administered the MPLE, after MOY, begin with Serie 14. You may drop back to a lower Serie if a student finds these tasks too difficult. Optional tasks: Use these to better inform your instruction. New Users: Start with Serie 14 and continue forward. It is strongly recommended that after the MOY benchmark, that the first progress monitoring assessment be “Serie 14”, no matter where the student left off before the benchmark. PDA users may be automatically routed to Serie 14 depending on your provider. Remember, however, that the MPLE offers lots of flexibility, so if needed you can start your optional tasks at the beginning of a sequence, if they have not been previously administered OR from where you left off before your MOY benchmark OR from the Serie 14 point, depending on your student needs. © 2011, The University of Houston and The Texas Education Agency

MPLP 24 General: Re-establish baselines ONLY for: Any first grade students still reading the word lists. Any second or third grade students reading off grade level stories. If a student is UNABLE to re-establish a baseline, continue reading the story (or word list) progression they were on before MOY.
