DRE Training 9-Day Course 2-Day Certification Training (continues up to 90 days upon return) Tuition/DRE Kit provided by grant Travel reimbursement of $80/day available The classroom portion of the DRE school is nine days. Upon successful completion of the course, DRE candidates begin their certification stage where they must conduct 12 evaluations on drug-impaired subjects. This begins at the location of the school. Additional certification training will be scheduled during the 90 days following the class. DRE Training
DRE School Requirements Off probation Three years experience 24-hr SFST course 16-hr ARIDE course Letter of recommendation from prosecutor Officers with less than three years experience may be considered for the training if a certified DRE has observed them satisfactorily conduct a DUI investigation and is familiar with the candidate’s investigative abilities.
