Comparative Adjective Rules 1. Adjective with 1 or 2 syllables= adjective + -er or –ier 2. Adjective with more than 2 syllables= more / less + adjective Q: Is Expensiver correct? NO! NO! NO!

Comparative Adjectives 3. Adjectives ending in –y = change to –ier 4. Which is often used to make questions with comparatives, and we don’t use than in the question

Comparative Adjectives Good and Bad are irregular adjectives. We do not add –er.

Comparative Adjectives We use than when we mention both things being compared. We use the comparative adjective alone when the speaker and listener both understand what is being compared.
