The Wonder Years Nursery 1 Spring Term – Kiwis Ms. Zunash March 2016 Upcoming Dates: 10th April-Summer Term Begins (Teachers only) 11th April-Children Return 12th April-Teddy Bear Picnic 5th May-Al Israa Al Miraj Day *(TBC) 16th May-Jungle Day 6th June- Ramadan Start (TBC) 15th June- Pirate/Princess Day 19th June- Graduation Day/ Party 28th June- Last Day of Term Topics this term: Seasons (Holidays, Winter, Spring, Summer, Autumn) Nursery Rhymes (Incy Wincey Spider, Humpty Dumpty, 12345 once I caught a fish alive, Five Little Ducks, Old McDonalds, The Wheels On the Bus) This term… The children of Kiwi class had great time during the topic “Seasons”. Children did role plays and dress up for the winter, spring, autumn and summer. We all had fun listening to our favourite stories and made art work to accompany these. We had lots of discussions about how plants grow, discussing parts of the flowers and plants, how plants grow from seeds and then change from bud to a flower as it grows. The children learnt about these through stories, games and rhymes. The next topic was “Nursery Rhymes” which include “Incy Wincy Spider, Humpty Dumpty, 5 little ducks and Old Macdonald”. Children were encouraged to use their different pitch of voice to make the songs interesting. At the end I would like to thank all the parents for coming to see the performance of their children for Spring Concert. The children tried their best to sing and perform for their parents. They made me proud by singing in front of a huge audience of parents. Well Done! By the end of the term children enjoyed egg dying activity, they got excited to see real eggs in class and it was fun drawing with crayons on them and then dying them with food colouring afterwards. Children also loved egg hunt and egg decorating crafts. We wish you all a happy and joyful spring break!
