Our Classroom News Reading Writing Math Science Week of: September 18th - 22nd What’s Happening A Note From Miss Barrett Spirit Week Monday – Wear patriotic clothes Tuesday – Wear tie dyed clothes Wednesday – Wear workout clothes Thursday – Super Hero Day! Friday – Wear blue and gold What an awesome week! We took time to learn about ourselves and our friends. We played names games, graphed our hair and eye color, and read stories about friendship and kindness. We practiced writing our names and made a special name project with handprints colored tiles. The teddy bear picnic was fun and we even let our butterflies go! Please remind your child of school rules, especially raising a quiet hand and not interrupting the speaker. A Peek At What We Are Learning Reading Explored letters in poems and songs, learned sight word “can” so we could read “Butterflies” and “What Can Friends Do?” Writing Every morning we do shared writing through the morning letter to practice writing our letters. We wrote books about our names and our friends. We are starting a great class book collection that will be out for Open House. Math Continued to explored math manipulatives – pattern blocks, unifix cubes, tiles, colored cubes. We worked on sorting not only through color size and shape but also texture and material. There were so m any great sorting books to read! Science We studied butterflies and facts about butterflies. We read “The Hungry Caterpillar” and made the life cycle of a butterfly.
