Global Warming Writing 39C Karina Silva

Global warming is the increase in the Earth’s temperature as a result of anthropogenic greenhouse gases (Gore 26-27). These greenhouse gases include: carbon dioxide (the most prevalent and problematic), methane, nitrous oxide, sulfur hexafluoride, PFCs, and HFCs (Gore 28). As these harmful fumes are released into the air they cause the atmosphere to thicken. As a result, this denser atmosphere becomes more impermeable, making it harder for infrared radiation to escape. The entrapment of infrared radiation is what leads directly to an increase in the temperature of the Earth’s atmosphere and oceans (Gore 27). What is global warming?

The Greenhouse Effect

The problem with global warming Climate change has taken a striking toll on the environment and yet proper legislation, on the part of the United States government, has not been properly implemented. In addition, the individual efforts of the American public have failed to adequately attend to the issue of global warming and effectively reduce carbon emissions. The problem with global warming

Where is this problem occurring? Why should I care? Global warming is not just another issue you hear about that happened or is happening in a country you’ve never heard of before, affecting people you don’t know or can only feel sympathy for. It is occurring right before our eyes, affecting the United States and additionally the entire world. This problem is further worsened by the US and the entire world as well. Where is this problem occurring? Why should I care?

Some effects occurring today

Melting of polar ice caps

Excessive rainfall

Bleaching of coral reefs

Future effects And worsened effects should we choose to remain inactive

Rise in sea level

Further loss of forest lands and biodiversity

Change in climate: more hurricanes, wild fires, flash floods, etc.

The necessity for action Although global warming is a natural and inevitable process, human waste has severely sped up this process to the point where it is severely harming our environment and wildlife. It is because of these harmful side effects that global warming must be dealt with. The issue is human-caused and must therefore be human-solved. The necessity for action

Possible solutions? Implementing a Carbon tax More severely enforced legislation requiring countries to reduce their carbon emissions Resorting to alternative fuels more heavily as opposed to coal and oil. Possible solutions?
