Breakfast:The Key to a successful day and diet!

What size should my breakfast be? A decent breakfast is about 300 to 600 calories Sometimes that is hard to come by so putting some form of nutrients in your stomach is more helpful than nothing Breakfast should fuel you to get you going for the whole day

Reasons why we don’t eat breakfast Not hungry in the morning No time Don’t like breakfast food On a diet Breakfast is too expensive

“I’m not hungry in the morning.”

“I’m not hungry in the morning.” Ate too much for dinner the night before Ate too many late night snacks Ate a huge dessert after dinner Ate too many calories

“I don’t have time for breakfast.”

“I don’t have time for breakfast.” Breakfast doesn’t have to be sit down Make a to-go bag the night before or have breakfast bars or fruit ready to grab before you leave the house Yogurt Smoothie Fruit Breakfast bar

“I’m on a diet.”

“I’m on a diet.” Diets do NOT start at breakfast Skipping breakfast to save calories is unsuccessful Dieters who skip breakfast tend to gain weight overtime You get too hungry when skipping breakfast and over eat later If anything, skip dinner!

“I don’t like breakfast food.”

“I don’t like breakfast food.” Any food can be breakfast food Anything that has a nutritious, filling amount of calories, protein and carbohydrates can be eaten as breakfast

“Breakfast is too expensive.”

“Breakfast is too expensive.” Yogurt can sell for 10 cents a container sometimes Oatmeal sells for 99 cents per pound (don’t buy packaged) Bananas are often 60 cents a pound (for both organic and non organic) Peanut butter may be pricey but for the price you get a very nutritious meal (even by the spoonful)

Partner Activity With the person sitting next to you, talk about and create a meal for breakfast that is healthy and nutritious for each of the reasons why we don’t eat breakfast that we went over. 5 breakfast options (1 for each reason).
