Introduction: BMI

Aim of the study 1- Describe the normative data for hand grip strength of an Bahraini female population. 2- Investigate the relationship between BMI and some anthropometric measurements with hand grip strength.

Methodology 77 Bahraini female college students, their ages between 18 and 25. Exclusion criteria : Using both hands in writing. Current pregnancy. Sickle cell disease. recent injuries or operations in the hands. Out come measures - Hand grip strength of the dominant and non- dominant hands - BMI, TAL, MUAC, dominance and lifestyle

Key messages: Key findings Hand grip strength showed a significant relationship with: BMI, hand dominance, TAL and MUAC. Hand grip strength show non-significant relationship with key board usage hours, lifestyle, handedness and skilful hand hobbies.  

What the study has added   What the study has added This study gave a reference about the average hand grip strength of Bahraini female youth to be used in the hand rehabilitation program. As well as clarification of the other factors that can affect the hand grip strength.
