OBJECTIVES: Students will be able to: 1) Use learned vocabulary and phrases presented during each course to communicate in the target language(s) according to course objectives. 2) Make personal connections and comparisons between the target language culture(s) and his/her own culture.

*1 subject Notebook (100+ pages) MATERIALS NEEDED: *1 subject Notebook (100+ pages) *Unlimited Pencils and Pens * pencil needed for written quizzes/tests *Pocket Folder *Crayons/Colored Pencils (6th grade students only) *Internet access is preferred to access online resources from home but all students will have access to class set of iPads to use during class instruction.

CLASS RULES 1. Respect yourself, the teacher and your classmates. 2. Attend class daily ready to share what you already know and learn what you don’t. 3. Listen quietly when others are talking. Raise your hand when you wish to speak. 4. For safety reasons, gum, candy, snacks are not permitted. *Exception: Medical necessity (as per 504 plan) 5. For all written paper assessments, students must use pencils only.

CONSEQUENCES First offense – Verbal Warning given to student Second offense – Parent Contact (via email or telephone) Third Offense – Classroom Loss of Privilege or Detention After Third offense – In –School Parent Conference scheduled in cooperation with Guidance Department. ***Three lates to class will result in automatic discipline referral to administration. *Student Contract will be presented on 1st day of class and is available to print from Schoolwires.

GRADING: (according to district grading policy) Major Assessments 33.3% (Projects, Tests) Minor Assessments (Graded Classwork, Homework & Quizzes) 66.7% LATE POLICY (for Homework and Projects): Students are encouraged to complete all assignments and turn them in on time according to teacher deadlines. Work will be accepted late with a -10 pt late penalty applied to the overall score. *Exception: Extensions will be granted as needed for students with “Extended Time” noted in their IEP or 504 plan)

GOOGLE CLASSROOM /SCHOOLWIRES *Daily Classwork and Resources will be accessible to students from the Google Classroom. Each student will receive a Google username, password and class code. *Homework reminders are posted on Schoolwires according to Grade level, A/B Schedule and Date. *Vocabulary for each Unit as well as additional World Language resources for students are available on my Schoolwires page.

IN THE CASE OF AN EMERGENCY… Fire drill - Proceed out door and to the left, quietly exiting building at the first exit on the right. *Alt. exit - Proceed out door and to the left, turn left again at 1st corner; proceed straight out of building via front door. Shelter in place - Proceed with classroom operation; stay in room; close and lock door and windows. Lock down - (Intruder is in the building) Quietly sit against wall where the computer is located; block door if possible; sit quietly; close all windows and blinds. Lock down Windows - (Threat is on the outside of the building) Quietly move to under the window sill so that you are not seen; close all windows and blinds; turn out lights; sit quietly. Evacuation- Exit building same as for fire drill; move as far away from building as possible; wait for further directions.
