COMMUNICATION GAMES (Name) (Institution)

MEANING OF COMMUNICATION GAMES This are plays, for example the word plays that are carried out in a classroom to sharpen the students and pupils communication a given language. Examples include survey game, making a story using the given words from a particular language, guessing the object on carrying out a role play in class. They are interesting to both the learners and teachers.

BENEFITS OF USING COMMUNICATION GAMES They promote interaction among the learners and also interaction with their teacher. They lower anxiety of some students due to interactions They improve acquisition of what is being taught. They improve performance and achievement of both the teacher and learners They break monotony and boredom in classrooms They encourage student to think critically.

Why the strategy is used To improve retention of what is learnt To avoid boredom and monotony in classes To encourage students to think critically, analyse evaluate and synthesis what is leant. To foster positive attitude towards the subject if the students have a negative attitude To make students have the energy to sustain the energy which is needed for learning. It is interesting to all the parties involved.

Examples of Communication games Age 6-8 – counting, yes no black white, Chinese whispers and guessing the objects. Age 8-12- Chinese whispers, picture puzzle, quick answers and word games Age 12-18- word games, quick answers, role play and complex picture puzzles

How it helps the learners to conceit knowledge The strategy improves speech of the students. How they pronounce words and make the choice of words is sharpened It makes students to improve confidence It makes the students to have a high esteem even when speaking to a big crowd of people It makes the students develop a skill that makes them express them without difficulties.

Personal statements I believe that communication games are essential in learning. Through this strategy, the students are able to get a better understanding of what is learnt in class Role play for example improves communication skills The students enjoy the lessons more than when the games are not used.

What the teacher should do He/ she should study the students to know how which games fits the students He should evaluate the games to see if they will be able to achieve the objectives of the course He/she should make sure that the games selected are engaging to students and attracting the attention of all students

Educational benefits to students Improved understanding of the concepts Improved communication skills among the students Improved performance High levels of retention at a short period of time It is interesting and therefor the students develop a positive attitude towards education.

Suggestions Teachers should adopt extensive use of communication games especially during the time that students are free from class. In order to make the students participate, communication games should be: Engaging Interesting Educative Not much challenging.
