QTAC Procedures Applying for Tertiary Study Year 12 2016
What is QTAC? The Queensland Tertiary Admissions Centre (QTAC) is a public not-for-profit company that manages the application and offer processes for a number of universities, TAFE Institutes and some private colleges.

Some key information You can apply through QTAC for most tertiary courses. Application to interstate institutions is through tertiary admissions centres similar to QTAC. You can apply for up to six courses. The application is online. The on-time closing date is 30 September.

Application fees

Educational Access Scheme (EAS) can help if you have experienced circumstances that negatively affected your studies, eg. illness, educational disruption If you are eligible for EAS, you may receive bonus ranks, financial assistance Ideal – defer for 6 mths if possible
Course fees Commonwealth Supported Places (CSP) are subsidised by the Australian Government To be eligible for a CSP, you must be an Australian citizen or New Zealand citizen or holder of a permanent residency visa. www.studyassist.gov.au
International students Contact each institution for information for International Students, eg. fees Current Year 12 international students must apply via QTAC for QUT and UQ. For other institutions, it is preferred that applications are made through QTAC.
International students cont. The international offices at each institution will be advised of the application and course preferences. Students applying through QTAC late in the year; changing contact details or adding preferences in November/December should also notify the international office at each institution.
International students cont. Offers are made directly by institutions. QTAC does not process offers for international students.
Reminders Be aware of fixed closing dates for courses. Advise QTAC of any changes to your contact details. You are encouraged to “Allow Permission” for at least one parent/guardian so that person can act on your behalf to respond to offers and make changes to your application (if you will not be able to access your application). If you do not pay for your application, it will not be processed and you will not receive any offers.
Reminders cont. Consider accepting and deferring a place in January (if possible) rather than waiting for Semester 2 offers. Read your student email. Listen for messages in the student notices. Check the careers noticeboard outside M8. Posters are also displayed outside the Careers Office upstairs in the Specialist Building.
