Mid-Atlantic to Upper South Historical Tour A Passmore Family Vacation

Day 1: Arrive in DC Drive into DC Check into hotel Relax Eat Walk around Mall?

Day 2: DC History Ford’s Theater: Library of Congress: Hour-long guided tours of the theater available select Sundays for $28.00/person Investigative tours lasting 2 hours follows the trail of clues after the Lincoln assassination (does not include entrance to the theater) $17.00/person Library of Congress: Self-guided visits available Public tours Monday-Fridays start every hour at the half-hour mark, starting at 10:30am (ask front desk about capacity of upcoming tours 20 mins before hand) Public tours on Saturdays start every hour at the half-hour mark between 10:30am and 2:30pm Special family tours occur at 10am on Saturdays Vending machines, snack bars, and cafes are available dining options National Archives: Open 7 days a week, 10am-5:30pm Guided Tours are ticketed and start at 9:45am Monday-Friday Timed Visit entry tickets are also available, visitor choice of time, and allows the visitor to bypass any front-door lines Reserving tickets online has a $1.50 convenience fee

Day 3: DC Museums American Art Museum Natural History Museum American History Museum National Art Gallery Air and Space Museum Smithsonian Castle Holocaust Memorial Museum (tickets required, free unless reserved online for $1) Bureau of Printing and Engraving (tickets required for the Currency Production Tour through 9/1, free) National Geographic Museum ($15/person 12+, $10/person 5-11yrs) Albert Einstein Memorial

Day 4: Mt. Vernon and Alexandria Open 9am-5pm Adult (12+) tickets $20, online $18 Youth tickets $10, online $9 May walk freely around grounds Add-on tours cost between $4-$7/person, with exception of the Mt. Vernon and Potomac River Excursion Weekend-only tours cost $7/person and Estate Admission tickets Food available at Mt. CYO NC Day 11: Museum of Cherokee and Oconaluftee Village Tickets for museum are $4-10 Explore and learn about Cherokee heritage and traditions The village offers a hands-on experience of Cherokee history Oconaluftee offers lectures, a walking tour, a craft line, and children’s classes Tickets for Oconaluftee are $19/adult, $11/child, and $10/child class; open 10am-4pm w/ tours available every 15min except for 11:30am- 12:30pm There are other attractions near by, such as Cherokee art exhibits and exhibitions and outdoor adventures (horse-back riding, fishing, etc.) Mostly 2/3-star hotels around, though Harrah’s Cherokee Casino and Resort is 4-stars
