What is GPS?

GPS is a way to Empower young girls! What….. Why…. Squad Building Setting Goals Being a Community Leadership Finding Inner Beauty Self-Talk Matters Untangling Emotions Healthy choices Learning to Love Yourself Arming girls with tools to plan for their future Identify their personal values Finding inner strengths Improve health and wellness Create achievable Goals Learn to make good choices

Hazard Middle School GPS Club A variety of activities were scheduled to go along with the online curriculum. The girls met after school once a week for an hour and a half to explore the topics in the GPS curriculum.

Topic…Dress For Success Sandra Olinger scheduled two local cosmologists. The guests talked about their education and gave tips on how to take care of their hair.

Hands on Hair Activities Looking good…. Taking turns….

How much fun!..... braiding a teacher’s hair! This topic was a favorite with the girls!! ARH supplied hair brushes for all the participants…building community partnerships!

Every girl had their Hair Styled! Feeling pretty….. Building confidence…….

A Great Day to celebrate Girl Power! Middle school girls from six schools in the KVEC region…. Sebastian Middle Breathitt County, Emmalena Elementary School, Phelps Middle School, Hazard Middle School, Letcher Middle School, and Jenkins Middle School came together on a beautiful spring day for the culminating event of GPS!
