Infrastructure Construction Is A Vital Content of China-Africa Economic and Trade Cooperation In the Annual Report of China-Africa Economic and Trade Relation, the cooperation in the infrastructure field is a vital content. The cooperation in the infrastructure construction between China and Africa has developed with China’s project contracting and foreign assistance towards Africa. Up to the end of 2009, there are over 500 China-aided infrastructure projects in Africa including 2,233 km railways, 3,391 km roads, 52 stadiums (venues), 11 bridges as well as boatyards, ports, irrigation works, electric power, airport and telecom facilities, etc.

From 2007 to 2009, China has provided the preferential loans and preferential export buyer's credit of USD 5 billion for Africa within the framework of China-Africa cooperation forum.

Communication Field China’s telecom products and services have covered 50 African countries, providing telecom services for over 300 million African customers, establishing more than 40 3G networks for over 30 African countries and establishing state major fiber communication network and e-government network for over 20 African countries.

Functions of China-Africa Research Center Research contents—African economic development, economic and trade cooperation between major countries and Africa and China-Africa economic and trade cooperation, wherein the key is the bilateral economic and trade relation between China and main African countries as well as industrial fields such as infrastructure construction, energy exploitation and agricultural development, etc. Research objectives—the Center shall rely on the resource advantages of Ministry of Commerce to track down African hotspot and key issues, provide theoretical policy basis for government’s Africa-related decision-making, and offer consultation to enterprises on African market exploitation. Research methods—the Center shall start independently the basic research concerning some major issues such as African economy and China-Africa economic and trade cooperation, etc, undertake the entrusted research subjects, establish the communication and cooperation relation with domestic and overseas research institutions, organize special seminars and academic lectures, and publish research reports and academic magazines on regular or ad hoc basis.
