Is there factual predicate evidence for an M/WBE Program? THE GOAL OF THE STUDY Determine if a significant statistical disparity exists between the percentages of available, qualified minority-owned and woman-owned (M/WBE) firms in an industry and the percentages of contract dollars awarded to such firms by the School District. The overarching research question: Is there factual predicate evidence for an M/WBE Program?

ANECDOTAL DATA COLLECTION Anecdotal (qualitative) data is necessary to identify successes and barriers firms experience while doing business. Data is evaluated for possible procurement policy modifications, and M/WBE Program recommendations, if applicable. Along with these public meetings, MGT will collect anecdotal data through: In-depth interviews Stakeholder interviews Surveys Business owners are randomly selected to participate in all events, except the public meeting activities.

PURPOSE OF PUBLIC MEETING To collect anecdotal data from business owners and stakeholders regarding their experiences doing business or attempting to do business with Shelby County Schools or primes contracted by the Schools. Individuals who want to provide oral comments today will be called at the end of the presentation to do so at individual stations.
