Sport It is made up games with made up rules. So why does it make us cry? Inspire us? Help us make friends with people with people we’ve never met? Maybe that’s it, it’s something we can be part of together. A way to find others to share in our madness. They are the ones who don’t judge when numbers on a score board make us cry with joy or pain. The same tears will be in their eyes as well and make sure we don’t have to suffer alone or even worse celebrate alone.

History of Sports Most sports of today only developed in their current form in the 19th and 20th century, though many take their origins from more primitive sports and pastimes of ancient times. What is the first sport ever played? Although it is impossible to know for sure, it is usually considered that wrestling and boxing were the first sports ever played. Competitions using the simple mode of human transport, running, would also have been among the first sports played. Competitions involving hitting, kicking, throwing a ball like object, as well as sports related to hunting and throwing would also be expected to have be played in early times. At the first recorded ancient Olympic Games in 760 BC, there was only one event, a footrace. later events included other events such as wrestling, boxing, equestrian, discus, javelin, and jumping. From around the same time, the only sport mentioned in the bible is said to be wrestling.

PE teaches a child how to accept failure if they lose a game. PE provides an opportunity for children to exercise. Exercise is important for staying fit and healthy. Children learn how to work as a team when learning to take part in team games. Most children attend after school sporting events so therefore children can exercise at home rather than school. Children can learn in PE. They can learn about how the body works and how the different organs function. PE teaches a child how to accept failure if they lose a game. Children sometimes dread and are embarrassed in PE if they are not good at it and worry about being bullied by other children because they are not good at it. Children who struggle with their school work may enjoy the freedom and success of PE lessons. Teachers are under pressure to teach so many subjects that PE can be left out to give teachers more time to teach Maths and English. Children should be able to choose whether of not they take part in PE lessons.

Notes: Boxing Match Debate Boxing match debates are designed to give extra support to those learners who need it. Divide the class into the green corner and the red corner. Choose the pupil to send forward to "box" from each side. They should have a short quick fire exchange on the topic and when they are struggling ring the bell. Send them back to their corners where their classmates act as coaches, giving them ideas for what to say for the next round.
