Welcome to the Phonics Workshop  Learning Together, Growing Together

Phase 1: This is where we are focusing on hearing sounds. Within the Letters and Sounds document phonics is split up into phases. Phase 1: This is where we are focusing on hearing sounds. Some examples are: going on a sound walk, playing instruments and guessing which one has been played, distinguishing sounds from one another. http://www.phonicsplay.co.uk/member-only/SoundStimuli.html

Phase 2: This is when we start to teach the initial sounds Phase 2: This is when we start to teach the initial sounds. We start with s a t p i n because a lot of words can be made from these sounds. Can you think of any 3 letter words that have been made from the sounds s a t p i n ?

We will tell you which sounds we are teaching using the ‘morning whiteboard’. A good way for you to reinforce these sounds at home is by playing i-spy. You could also look for print in the environment.
