Monitoring and Recording

The difference between recording and monitoring Recording tends to be done before training starts and at the end of a training approach e.g. start of week 1 and end of week 6. This is because the methods used to record often are time consuming and need extra equipment for example video to aid the completion of this. Often recording methods tend to use quantitive data to be able to see a clear comparison between week 1 and week 6.

The difference between recording and monitoring Monitoring is an ongoing process that would be completed after every session or week. The methods used tend to be less time consuming and a simpler form to allow the performer to continually fill these in. The methods of monitoring tend to use qualitative statements to track the improvement on a session to session basis.

Monitoring and Recording performance development To allow comparisons to previous information This will give the performer the information needed to apply progressive overload in order to challenge them further. To check if targets have been met This continuing monitoring process will give the performer motivation to continue training and try their hardest. Therefore, there is more chance for further development. To check to see if the approach I am using is effective or not This means if the performer is on track it will boost the performer’s confidence and allow them to set themselves new SMART targets. To check to see if my training is beginning to plateau This will allow the performer to make decisions regarding whether to continue with the same approach or to begin a programme of work based on their new weakness To identify if I have any new strengths and weaknesses The performer will be able to identify if there is another approach that is more suited to developing their weakness or if they need to make any changes to their current approach Performers will be able to track their progress and see where they are improving within their approach This will allow the performer to make accurate judgements about how much they have improved within their programme of work.

Monitoring and Recording performance development The purpose of monitoring and recording when using a training approach is as follows: To allow comparisons to previous information gathered, this will allow the performer to make accurate judgements about how they are progressing within the training approach To check if targets have been met; this allows performers to see if their SMART targets have been completed. This will ensure that the performer is working on the correct strength and weakness To check to see if the approach is effective and being carried out at the level required. The performer will be able to check to see if there is another approach that is more suited to their strengths and weaknesses To check and see if their training has began to plateau, when a performer works through an approach they must use monitoring to check to see when to progressive overload and make their training more demanding To identify if there are any new strengths or weaknesses that need to be addressed. This will allow the performer to make decisions regarding whether to continue with the same approach or not To motivate the performer as they will be able to track their progress and see where they are improving within their approach

Recording and Monitoring for MESP Factor Recording and Monitoring Method to Evaluate Physical Recording SFTs, OS Monitoring Training Diary Emotional or Mental Psychometric Testing Training Diary, Feedback Social Questionnaire, OS Feedback

Select one of the methods you used to monitor performance development and explain two reasons why you chose this method. Evaluate each reason and how it impacted on your development. Use statistical data/internal feedback to evidence how effective the method was. I used a ______ _______ because they are quick and easy to fill out which means they are not taking time away from my training programme which means I will fill it out more accurately and __________. It also means that I will be more inclined to do it ___________ after my session so my programme and feedback will be fresh in my mind and therefore what I write will be more _________. Also, they can be kept as a __________ __________. This means that I can look back to previous sessions and compare them to my recent sessions to see if I am ____________ or not. This will ___________ me to keep improving or try harder if I am not. For example, if I see that in week two only 50% of my shuttles were going to the back tramlines when I did my overhead clears and in week 5 70% were going to the back tramlines then it would motivate me to keep at the training programme as it is obviously ___________.

Select one of the methods you used to record performance development and explain two reasons why you chose this method. Evaluate each reason and how it impacted on your development. Use statistical data/internal feedback to evidence how effective the method was. I chose Standardised Fitness Tests to record my performance development because the results are easy and quick to interpret. This means that after the Observation Schedules has been completed I can take my time to analyse the results and use this information to see how much of an improvement I have made in the Mental factor. I can use this information to identify my future development needs and make a new training diary to try to improve these specific areas. Therefore, because I can do this quickly I am able to start training on my strengths quicker.
