Presentation transcript:

To Mrs. Sundloff’s & Maestra Matthews´ 2nd Grade Class!

Mrs. Sundloff: I attended Utah State University and received a Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education. I then taught first grade for two years until I became a mother to TWINS! For the last eleven years I have been home with my four children. I love my job as a wife and mother and I am SUPER excited to be back in the classroom teaching English and Language Arts in 2nd Grade Immersion!

Maestra Matthews: This is my first year teaching at Lincoln Elementary. When I was younger, I had the opportunity to study in Spain. I just graduated from Weber State in April. Because I did my student teaching here last year, I already know many of your children! I have 4 daughters & 2 sons. I believe that my experiences as a mother will help me to be a better teacher. I love to ski, read, & play in any river.

Other Second Grade Teachers: Miss Hendricks Mrs. Cheney Your student may be in some of the other first grade teachers classrooms for reading & math groups as well as during specialist classes.

Homework will go home on Monday to be brought back every Friday: 20 minutes/day of reading One page of spelling and vocabulary practice per week. One page of math practice per week. One page of Spanish Language Arts practice per week.

Students are graded on a 3 point scale: 3: At or above Benchmark (Student can complete task independently.) 2: Approaching Benchmark (Student can perform the task with some assistance.) 1: Well Below Benchmark (Student requires assistance to perform the task.) 0: Skill not demonstrated (Student is unable to do the task.)

Rules Keep your hands, feet, and other objects to yourself Try your best everyday Follow the teachers directions the first time Listen while others are speaking Be SAFE, KIND, and WORK HARD!!!

When students Follow Rules: Verbal Praise Table points for rewards Raffle Tickets (Tickets will drawn every Friday for prizes!) Fun Friday

When Students Do Not Follow Rules: First Offense – Warning Second Offense – Stop and think Third Offense – Stop and think and lose recess time. Student will be asked to call a parent if behavior continues. We have a zero tolerance policy when it comes to aggression towards other students. If your child hits, kicks, pinches, etc. another student, they will automatically call home, they will lose recess, and they will need to write a letter of apology. Please help your student understand the consequences of this behavior.
