Reliable Multicast Service Purpose It is used for several Mobile Stations to download data simultaneously. Software update procedure is a good example for reliable multicast. It is necessary when it is required that more robust multicast service than multicast via HARQ can provide.

Basic Operation Payload RS encoding Payload Parity Segmentation CRC ARQ transmission Used for first transmission trial Used for retransmission

Basic Operation (cont.) Prerequisite Fragmented (and/or) packed SDUs are encoded with RS encoder. Encoded payload is segmented into ARQ blocks. ARQ Feedback Information Each receiver responses with normal ARQ feedback. CRC is appended at the end of every n-ARQ blocks. Retransmission BS counts the number of maximum ARQ blocks for retransmission by considering MSs’ feedback information, and then, transmits parity blocks on behalf of ARQ retransmission. When parity blocks are used up, normal ARQ block retransmission is performed. Comment – HARQ vs ARQ의 cross layer를 고려하자.

Text Proposal for SDD ARQ-based reliable multicast service employing RS coding scheme is provided for multiple receivers, and hence, they can receive large volume of data simultaneously.
