District 4 Conference Area workshops, 2017 Every other year, opposite convention years, each District holds its conference where it conducts Zonta business District 4 Conference Area workshops, 2017

September 21 – 24, 2017 Thanks to Catherine Bobeschich from the Oakville club for designing our logo based on the ZI tagline.

NIAGARA FALLS, ONTARIO In September, this year, we will host in magnificent Niagara Falls – home to one of the 7 natural wonders of the world. Also a convention capital in Canada

Hilton Niagara Falls – Fallsview Hotel and Suites Our meeting site as well as our bedrooms are in the lovely Hilton Fallsview. A great location well situated close to everything we could possibly need or want. They are giving us free wi-fi, complementary parking as well as a choice of rooms.

Great place for family If you decide to invite your family or friends to join you, the hotel has a great swim park with a giant slide for those not faint of heart. Again, let me emphasize that NF is a terrific place for a getaway

Great place for YOU! Fallsview Casino is right across the road. I know there are a few of you who like to take some time to bet against the odd, play some cards, try your luck at the slots but there is also a shopping gallery and entertainment if you decide to extend your weekend

Comfortable bedrooms 2 Queen Beds, City View 179.00 2 Queen Beds, US Fallsview 219.00 All the rooms have been upgraded and include the use of the pool area, and if you are so inclined, a fitness area

Thursday night reception – Mystique Lounge Meet our international liaison Enjoy substantial refreshments and cash bar Mingle with Zonta friends – old and new This is an opportunity to get a head start on the conference and relax in the lounge overlooking the falls at night where we hope to have the zonta colours displayed

Friday activities We will be offering two choices of Friday social activities –a wine tour – and why not, when we are meeting in one of the most prestigious of wine production areas in the world – home of international award winning white, red and recently, sparkling wines September is perfect for having a golf game near the falls – the weather should be perfect We thank the Fort Erie club for organizing this

Friday business session Welcome Opening ceremony Credentials Election speeches Friday is predicted to be a memorable experience as we welcome …. to remind us that we are all treaty people and are holding our conference on first nations lands – should be a joyful and poignant start to our 55th conference. You will be hearing election speeches from our candidates and introductions to our special guests. For those of you are first timers or new to Zonta, Governor Lori will be hosting a ‘get acquainted’ session to help you navigate through the conference and delegate responsibilities. All clubs will have a role to play in our business sessions – just like the conference committee who all come from different clubs. This is unusual when in the past, one club has organized the whole conference…………this conference is about inclusiveness and engagement Well, speaking about engagement…

Friday night – kick back and have some fun at Margaritaville! Right across from the hotel Food stations Cash bar Stilt walkers Karoke, dj Relaxed atmosphere – with friends and family

Great meeting rooms Bright, well lighted We have the whole ballroom, store booths will be around the perimeter so you won’t be ‘stuck off’ in a small out-of-the way room. The room will be locked at night so there is no worry about security. You will also be able to drool over the AE silent auction items and make your dreams come true with a donation. The district will be selling 50/50 tickets so if you were unlucky at the casino, you have another chance here

Saturday Area and committee reports Election results Workshops Gaining Zonta knowledge Networking with friends Silent auction for Amelia Earhart Draws Zonta store Saturday is a busy day – full of information, news, sharing and learning more about what is happening in Zonta and across our district. We will be confirming workshop titles after our area workshops to ensure we are meeting your needs

Saturday lunch No speeches, no keynote – just a lovely lunch in a remarkable room with every seat able to view the falls We have arranged to have the whole restaurant to ourselves for this amazing view – remember to take your camera

Saturday evening Governor’s dinner Interactive entertainment One Million Dollar Celebrity Zonta Wheel of Fortune Game Show Saturday night dinner – always a treat to get dressed up, looking fine, enjoying a fine meal. Governor Lori will be presenting the Governor’s award so while it is a little more formal evening, it is not filled with speeches! We will be entertained by a local theatre group who are especially designing the Game of Fortune for us – lots of interaction, guaranteed fun and a relaxed way to end a busy day

Sunday morning Memorial service Keynote speaker Award recipients Good news shared by all Address from our Zonta International liaison, Judith Anderson Brunch to send you home on a full stomach  Sunday morning will be spent in a reflective mood with the Jamestown club hosting the memorial service as we remember our Zonta sisters who have died since last conference The last business session is all good news - where we hear from our award winners, a send-off from our ZI representative all shared on a full stomach

You can promote your events and support conference! This year, because the actual cost of the conference is higher than in the past, we did not want to make the registration fee so high that it is out of the reach of you, so we are introducing a fundraising aspect to the program. Your club can advertise in the program – perhaps you have a major event coming up…. or

Support for our conference You would like to support the district, congratulate our Governor or advertise your own business with a card. All the rates are quite reasonable and in Canadian dollars. On the website, you will find the application form and prices.

Why do you need to attend? This is YOUR conference Your votes, your decisions, your participation, your chance to participate! Cost is reasonable in Canadian and American dollars Great hotel for you, family and friends Balance of social time, networking, Zonta business, great food and My dear sisters, this is truly YOUR conference where you make the decisions, you vote, your voice is heard. We are working hard to ensure that every club is somehow engaged, whether taking on tasks or participating in the voting. You need to be here – a marvellous location, a well thought out program - $285.00 We will be using the Zonta website as the respository for information – everything you need to know will be on the website including registration information, hotel booking, conference at a glance, etc. We will send out regular updates as we get more details confirmed – you will have access to all conference material on-line

You are outstanding women who are changing the world in leadership and advocacy – we want to hear about it, we want the world to know about it, please join us in September. This is one conference you don’t want to miss!
