BOOK OVERVIEW * Chapter 1 – Learn to express ratios and rates, use a ratio table, and use equivalent ratios to solve problems. * Chapter 2 – Learn to relate and use fractions, decimals, and percents. Learn to estimate percents and find a percent of a number. * Chapter 3 – Learn to multiply and divide decimals. Use estimation in all steps of multiplication and division as a way to check the reasonableness of products and quotients. * Chapter 4 – Learn to multiply and divide fractions and mixed numbers. * Chapter 5 – Learn to graph, compare, and order integers. Learn to graph points in all four quadrants of a coordinate plane. * Chapter 6 – Learn to write and evaluate mathematical expressions that correspond to real-world situations. Learn and apply properties of mathematics.

BOOK OVERVIEW * Chapter 7 – Learn to write and solve addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division equations to solve two-step equations. * Chapter 8 – Learn to use function tables to help identify functions and function rules. Learn to solve inequalities. * Chapter 9 – Learn to find the area of geometric figures. * Chapter 10 – Learn to find the volume and surface area of rectangular prisms. * Chapter 11 – Learn to analyze data, using mean, median, and mode. Learn to describe how data are distributed. * Chapter 12 – Learn to construct and analyze box plots, histograms, line plots, and line graphs. Learn to select which type of display is the most appropriate for a set of data.

GRADES You will receive a daily grade based on homework completion, classwork completion, behavior, and being prepared for class. This makes up 25% of your grade. Each chapter will have a mid-chapter quiz and a performance task that are worth 25% of your grade. Each chapter will have a chapter test that will be worth 50% of your grade.

REWARD Each month, students who receive all 4’s will receive a reward from me at the end of the month. Rewards include: spaghetti lunch hot chocolate and cookies pancakes candy bag

Your password goes according to the following format: Your first initial capitalized, your last initial lower case, your student ID number …..student ID number

HELPFUL TIPS Join “Remind” to get nightly homework alerts. Have your child go onto the Glencoe online program at the beginning of each lesson and watch a video. Have your child go onto the Glencoe online program at the end of each lesson and complete the self-check quiz. Check your child’s grades on Home Access Center at least one per week. Email me if you need any extra practice sheets for a particular concept, and I can send the sheets along with an answer key. You will receive email updates from me. You MAY get tired of hearing from me this year. Sorry!
