Carmen Wines WINE KEY SELLING POINTS Gran Reserva Carmenére, Colchagua Valley, Chile Sourced from the premium Apalta region of Colchagua Valley The Apalta soils are formed of granitic decomposed material and are well suited to the deeply penetrating roots of the Carmenere vines The “Los Peñascos” Vineyard is located in the highest zone of Apalta, where the soils provide good depth and structure for fully ripening Carmenere with distinctive character A dense and concentrated wine with ripe berries, sweet spice and tobacco notes with a touch of spicy anise, a supple texture, sweet tannins and a long finish 90% Carmenere, 7 % Carignan and 3% Petite Verdot Aged in French oak barrels for 10 months, then after bottling aged in our cellar for an additional 2 months prior to release v.2014: 90pts, Top 100 #32, Best Buy, Wine Enthusiast v.2014: 90pts James Suckling Gran Reserva Petite Sirah, Maipo Valley, Chile Grapes were handpicked from our estate vineyard in Alto Maipo, where the vineyards are planted over deep loam soils over alluvial terraces Fragrant aromas of black cherries, ripe plums and violets with hints of chocolate, cappuccino and earthy spices, with great structure and concentration, and ripe tannins 92% Petite Sirah, 8% Syrah Aged in French oak barrels for 15 months where malolactic fermentation occurs naturally in the barrels. Further aged an additional 12 months in bottle prior to release v. 2011: 91pts James Suckling Gran Reserva Cabernet Sauvignon, Maipo Valley, Chile The soil of our “Quillayes” vineyard planted over alluvial terraces has a mixture of 20% clay and 80% sand, where extremely concentrated grapes are the result of old vineyards yielding around 3.24 tons/acre Aromas of black currants, blackberries and licorice with smooth, elegant cedar notes, a rich and generous palate, and firm tannins 94% Cabernet Sauvignon, 3% Carmenere, 3% Petite Verdot Aged in French oak barrels for 12 months, where malolactic fermentation occurred naturally in barrels. The wine aged an additional 6 months in bottle prior to release v.2012: 91pts, Top 100 #32, Wine Spectator v.2013: 91pts James Suckling Gold Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon, Maipo Valley, Chile Our "Carneros 288" parcel lies in the Maipo Valley, in the foothills of the Andes Mountains. The grapes from these vineyards, planted in 1957, are carefully harvested and hand selected to produce Carmen Gold Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, aged in new French oak barrels for 18 months where malolactic fermentation naturally took place in the barrels Bottled unfiltered to preserve its character, and after bottling the wine was aged another 12 months in bottle prior to release Dense and rich, with perfumed cassis, black currant, cigar box and black truffles.
