**Remember to wear tennis shoes on P.E. days** Mrs. Terry’s First Grade News January 23, 2017 kterry@greeleyschools.org A Peek At The Week -In reading we are continuing to direct instruction at students’ reading levels. -In Math we will continue with our unit of measurement. Students will learn this week about how to organize data on a graph then also how to use the information from the graph to answer various questions. -Writing time this week will be spent writing a narrative story. Students will write a story independently including a beginning, middle, and end. We will introduce the process of going back to proofread for mistakes. Finally, they will create a front cover to turn their writing into a book! -Our Core Knowledge time will continue with Social Studies and the study of Early American Civilizations. These include Hunters and Gathers, the Maya, the Inca, and the Aztecs. Homework Ideas -Please take time to read with your child every night for 10-15 minutes. -Reading homework should be coming home daily! Looking Ahead -February 6th and 9th are the dates for our second Parent Teacher Conferences. I sent conference times in each child’s folder today. Times will be the same as the first conferences, if the scheduled time does not work please let me know as soon as you can and we will figure something out!  Extra News -The 100th day of school is coming!!!!! It will be Tuesday, January 31st! We will be celebrating throughout the day! Each child is encouraged to wear something that has 100 things on it, bring a collection of 100 of something, or dress like you are 100 years old It will be such a fun day!!!!!
