Rising number of: SRs our 56 institutions are publishing Baylor College of Medicine: 485 University of Texas: 431 Requests from faculty and students Classes on campus teaching SRs This is the most comprehensive search anyone has done for the Rational Clinical Examination (RCE) in terms of the number of databases. – JAMA RCE Editor “ Results: All librarians: Learned SR standards/methods Learned advanced database searching techniques Found the best way to learn SRs was to start working on one Librarians benefited from: Being mentored by more experienced colleagues Consulting with each other Librarians discovered that many of our clients: Don’t understand SR methodology Underestimate the amount of work/time SRs require Introductory SR class Wow! You need a degree to learn how to do this! –SR client “ SR day-long seminar Explored how much training we needed Evaluated our database collection Established internal guidelines to define the roles of the librarian and the researcher Created SR forms Received two SR requests! “Searching Ovid Embase to find  Systematic Reviews” class, Greg Pratt, Systematic Reviews Specialist, UT MD Anderson Cancer Center “EndNote” class, Amy Sisson, UT MD Anderson Cancer Center Books acquired: Cochrane Handbook for Systematic Reviews of Interventions.
