Figure (a) Venacavogram in a 31-year-old woman before IVC filter retrieval reveals a centered Denali filter with a fractured strut (arrow). The filter had a 432-day dwell time, and the fracture was asymptomatic. (b) Venacavogram in a 65-year-old woman before IVC filter retrieval reveals a well-centered Denali filter with a fractured strut (arrow). The filter had a 242-day dwell time, and the fracture was asymptomatic. (c) The filter and fractured strut were examined on the table. No additional fractures were noted. Tissue ingrowth was noted at the margins of the legs, at the apex, and at the hook. Snare retrieval of this filter was performed with forceps retrieval of the fractured strut.
