Progress and support for Dimmitt Middle School 1:1 Computer Pilot Program Spring 2017

Goal of Dimmitt Middle School 1:1 -- to amplify empowerment of learners by increasing resources and enhancing the instructional practice to strengthen a student’s personal learning experience; to extend the West Hill Now! focus through the middle school; and to better prepare Dimmitt students for the IB program at Renton High.

Vision of digital learning Using technology intentionally and innovatively leads to greater equity and achievement for all students by: increasing rigorous learning opportunities enhancing authentic learning environments providing differentiated and personalized learning supporting collaboration, productivity, and creativity providing opportunities to develop and demonstrate critical thinking skills This ensures high quality instruction and learning for every child, every day in every environment and will advance Renton School District’s goals of achievement, college and career readiness, and equity and access.

Project Planning: Category Action items (representative, but not exhaustive) Instructional Planning, Professional Development with staff, support growth mindset, site visits, determine expectations, measure progress, increase capacity in content areas + all classrooms Communication/engagement Plan family nights, involve students, share progress with District (school board, on website) and the community, connections with CBOs Technical (central office) Assess infrastructure (wifi), plan for logistics (charging, extra supplies, cases, insurance, assignment, replacement, etc.), develop support model, increase on-the-ground support Technical (Dimmitt) Create technical team (with Technology Resource Specialist and other teacher leaders), plan for logistics (where devices go during the day, where/how students keep devices), work w/ ASB to engage student body
