Kindergarten Curriculum: Treasure Hunting Click link for more information. Engage children in discovery of what it means to be a UU. Each week they explore a UU Principle through a hidden treasure. Arts and crafts, stories, and questions grow our young and curious UUs. Begin in Sanctuary monthly and Chapel weekly.

Gr. 1 Curriculum: World of Wonder Click link for more information. Delves deeply into our seventh principle. Instills respect for the interdependent web and appreciation of its beauty, excitement, and mystery. Direct experience in nature is essential to children’s physical, emotional, intellectual, and spiritual development.

Grade 1 Special Curriculum: Our Whole Lives (Replaces Gr Grade 1 Special Curriculum: Our Whole Lives (Replaces Gr. 1 for last 8 sessions of the year.) Click link for more information. Specially UUA-trained UUCF facilitators meet with parents and children in the winter to prepare for the class. Written permission from parents required before “OWL” sessions begin.

Grade 2: Moral Tales Click link for more information. Provides ethical learning through storytelling. Provides children with spiritual and ethical tools to make choices and take actions that reflect their Unitarian Universalist beliefs and values. The stories in Moral Tales draw from all our UU Sources.

Grade 3: Love Will Guide Us Click link for more information. Learn to seek guidance in life through the lens of our UU Sources, with an emphasis on love. Apply wisdom from our sources when exploring questions, such as “Where did we come from?” “What is our relationship to the Earth and other creatures?” “How can we respond with love, even in bad situations?” “What happens when you die?”

Grade 4: Toolbox of Faith Click link for more information. Reflect on the qualities of our UU faith, such as integrity, courage, and love, as tools they can use in living their lives and building their own faith. Use a tool as a metaphor for an important quality of our faith such as reflection (symbolized by a mirror), flexibility (duct tape), and justice (a flashlight).

Grade 5: UU Sources Click link for more information. Uses Bibleodeon, which  introduces stories from the Bible in engaging and provocative ways. Active engagement with their own beliefs in relationship to the teachings in the Bible and other sources. Connections to our UU Sources each week.

Grade 5: Our Whole Lives (OWL) Replaces Gr Grade 5: Our Whole Lives (OWL) Replaces Gr. 5 for last 8 sessions of the year. Click link for more information. Grade 6: Riddle and Mystery Click link for more information. Explore the big questions in life, such as “Is there a God?” “What happens after I die?” “Does my life have a purpose?” Our individual search for meaning in the universe is supported and strengthened when we come together as people of faith. Explore our shared UU beliefs and determine where their beliefs fit in the spectrum.

Workshop: Gr. 1-6 Click link for more information. At times, we gather in multi-age groups to explore: UU identity, Social Justice, Creative Arts, and Activism. One familiar adult will be with each class and Linnea or the RE Committee leads. Activities will be engaging with opportunities to make multi-age friendships and deepen UU Faith.

Grade 7 Coming of Age COA Click link for more information. Ceremony in September. CoA Worship Service in May. Mentors for enrolled youth. Design a service project. DC Adventure Day Trip. Boston Trip or (considering summer 2017, 2019, 2021 for rising Gr. 7 and rising Gr. 8)

Grade 8: OWL Click link for more information. Dismantles stereotypes and assumptions, Builds self-acceptance and self-esteem, Fosters healthy relationships, improves decision making, and has the potential to save lives. Classes of 10-14 youth for each service. If registration is lower than 18 total, OWL will only be offered at late service.

Grade 9-12 Click link for more information. Youth Exploration Class led by the YAC (Youth Adult committee, comprised of 2-3 adults, 6 youth). Follows monthly congregational themes. Youth Group is open to all 9-12 youth and includes outside activities such as trips, youth cons, social justice activities, social activities, and overnights.
