Goldilocks and the 3 bears Theme Spring Term 2 Goldilocks and the 3 bears Theme This term we will be using the story of Goldilocks and the three bears to develop learning across the curriculum including Using puppets to retell the story Building homes for the bears in our construction area, outdoors and looking after the 3 bears in the home corner Following instructions to make and taste porridge Painting and printing the 3 bear family The children will also be invited to take home our 3 bears puppets and story to share with you STAY AND PLAY You will have received an invite to our STAY AND PLAY SESSIONS where you will be invited to join activities related to the 3 bears theme. We hope you can join us. Number work Our mathematical work will focus on various aspects of number including counting sets and stating the total, making sets and recognising and writing numbers. This will be done through practical work eg playing number games, counting songs, playing skittles and basketball outdoors and recording our scores and working with Beebot our programmable floor robot. In our home corner we are helping to look after the three bears from our Goldilocks story making sure they have the right sized bowls etc and helping baby bear with his counting skills! Outdoors on our terrace area we will be learning to play a range of instruments and exploring sound making in our music area Nursery Newsletter Staffing Nursery teacher Mrs Anderson Nursery Officers Monday to Wednesday Mrs Ibbitson Wednesday to Friday Ms Davenport Full time Mrs Platt Lunchtime Staff Miss Barnett and Mrs Crossley Ways to help go for a number hunt in your house or outdoors to see where you can find numbers Bring counting into everyday activities. Eg help with shopping can you get….. Play games eg dominoes, snakes and ladders The Cbeebies website has lots of games to develop number skills. Please try and play the games with your child to check understanding and help when needed A big thank you! Thank you to everyone who sends in items to stock up our busy technology area! We can always use old cards, material, wool, boxes, tubes, wrapping paper, ribbon…… and really appreciate any items you send
