Personalizing the Employee Experience

PARTICIPANT (DOMINIC) Now let’s take a look at how our infectious passion combined with the CafeWell technology makes a personalized participant experience possible. Meet Dominic, who is an Operations Manager in Chicago—a stressful job. He’s 27 and works hard to stay active during the week. But the stress of balancing his long hours and work with the rest of his life is a overwhelming at times. Dominic has trouble falling and staying asleep at night, so he is sleep deprived as a result, making him less productive at work. Dominic is a joiner! He likes his company’s wellness programs and takes part whenever possible.

At work, Dominic receives the text invite to CafeWell and he immediately takes action by clicking on the link and gets started! Dominic is interested to learn more about the company program cards. He sees many options that are interesting to him. He learns more about several of them and is pleased to see that he can earn rewards for completing programs. Dominic decides he wants to start with the “Sleep Well” program. He joins the Sleep Well program, adding it to his Personal Health Itinerary.

Dominic selects the Sleep Well program and sees that his first step is to Track:Turn off Screens One hour before bed. He is required to track each today for a week. The next chapter he must complete is to Read “31 Solutions for When You Can’t Sleep.” This is where he learns tips for long term and short term sleep solutions.

Remember the research I noted and the desire of wellness program participants to speak with experts who can provide support. Our people are just as much a part of Dom’s journey as the Café Well technology. So here Dominic sees that Coach Paulette is hosting a 5 minute T’ai Chi for Stress Management coaching session at noon the next day. He signs up to join the video coaching session—along with more than 100 other co-workers who join the session from throughout the company. Dominic enjoys the short session and feels confident that he can apply what he has learned from the coach to his daily life and to help handle stress. Video coaching fosters a virtual community to encourage and support behavior change that in turn leads to a healthy population.

Dominic uses several apps and devices to help him keep track of his fitness and exercise habits, although it is a challenge to check so many different devices. He wishes that he could just have one place to check everything—where all of his devices could sync up seamlessly. CafeWell integrates with more than XX fitness devices and apps. What Dominic really loves is that all of this is tracking now in one place and he and his coach can watch his progress. He also notices how his walking challenge uses the same dashboard. This is a real lifesaver for Dominic, he now has everything in one place. He notices the “Connect your favorite Device or app” suggestion on his personal health itinerary. He is excited that it’s also worth 50 points! Dominic selects the link and then proceeds to sync his devices, including his Fitbit. Dominic can track his activity via the tracking dashboard. The tracking dashboard offers a way to hold Dominic accountable and demonstrates his progress. It keeps him engaged and moving forward. Dominic also works out at the on-site fitness center three times a week and he earns points every time he checks in. At HealthFitness, we have served fitness clients since our inception, with an average tenure of 14 years.   Dominic’s personal trainer can also look at the dashboard to monitor Dominic’s progress. Our fitness center clients will make use of an expanded CafeWell platform that integrates member management functionality with fitness assessments and other tools, allowing clients to tie fitness center participation directly into personalized rewards programs. This can help us create a personalized program for the participants. We also provide virtual fitness solutions for those clients with a geographically dispersed workforce or where on-site facilities aren’t an option. We recently announced a partnership with WELLBEATS, the leading provider and pioneer of virtual fitness solutions, which allows us to offer virtual fitness programs to employers – helping employees, even family members, engage in fitness and wellness at work, on the go and at home. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION We conducted research recently on wellness program participation—what motivates employees to participate as well as what are barriers to participation. Among our findings were that 97% of wellness program participants report that on-site fitness programs have the highest level of satisfaction compared to other programs.

Dominic earns rewards for completing programs and can choose a gift certificate or gift card from leading retailers, restaurants, and entertainment companies. Even though Dominic is very motivated, he loves the added bonus of choosing gift cards. With more than 400 to choose from, Dominic will find the one that is right for him. Include examples of retailers.

Dominic is excited to see that there are even more programs to choose from to support his health. He is quickly learning that the more activities he completes in his Personal Health Itinerary, the better choices he will have. The more programs he completes, the better the recommendations will be. By choosing and completing each program, Dominic is creating his own path to wellness, one program and challenge at a time.
