New to KS2 Parent Meeting

Topics We continue to follow a topic based curriculum. Topics for this year Blast from the past Light up the world Horrible Histories A squash and a squeeze (Performance) Our Great Britain – Summer trip We are family We try to make links where possible – Making the curriculum more engaging. We encourage more independence and aim for children to work in greater depth. We want them to be resilient learners.

Homework Topic – A new topic challenge each half term. Any writing to be in pencil. Always due in Thursday and handed out Friday Reading – a minimum of twice a week and recorded in reading records with parent signature Spellings – weekly test on Mondays Additional - For children to learn their times tables and use Purple Mash Reading can be for any books of their choice, however we would like them to read school book. They also will have a chance to get a library book

PE Children to have a PE kit at school all week Outdoor trainers essential All item labelled We have an outdoor and indoor sessions every week Swimming in Spring term 2 for 5 weeks Athletics/Cross country events

Play and lunch times Super leaders - on playground to support and provide opportunities for children to get involved in games. Music to get children active Run a mile will start this year Coats and footwear Snacks – fruit based We will have some of our clubs running at lunchtime this year.
