Innovation Case Study: “Living Longer at Home” by Telenor Service Provider Telenor has collaborated with Visma to develop its “Bo lenger hjemme” (Living longer at home) project. This is a welfare technology solution that links directly with electronic patient records. Telenor announced this solution on 5 March 2013. The concept enables the Municipality health services to enhance each individual’s ability to look after themselves on a day-to-day basis despite suffering from an illness or reduced functional capacity. For people wishing to live at home, technological assistance of this type helps to increase security, safety and social interaction. Service Success Metrics Sheltered Housing Central unit (Controller) Municipality Health Services Care Personnel Door Sensor Motion Sensor Water Sensor Temperature Sensor Fall Sensor “Living longer at home” is a new potential revenue stream which also improves Telenor’s brand value. Rapid development in healthcare sector is an important field for Telenor, and welfare technology plays a key role in this sector. 2

Innovation Case Study: “Living Longer at Home” by Telenor Differentiation The solution addresses the untapped need for safety and security of the aged home residents The solution integrates a broad set of sensor based alarms onto a single platform, measuring everything from motion, temperature, slope, water leaks and doors that open. This information is ported directly into the user's electronic medical record in one place and gives a comprehensive overview of the user. The solution gives the care personnel new tools to improve the quality of their offers and better coverage. Value Generation "Living Longer at home" is one of the major responses to the challenges Norway face in the coming age wave. Forecasts based on information from Statistics Norway predict a significant increase in the number of elderly people living in nursing homes if current trends continue; numbers are set to increase from around 43,000 today to around 65,000 in 2030. Norway could save a significant amount through the use of welfare technology: Savings of NOK 12–20 billion could be made in 2030 if 15–25% of people were to live at home for longer instead of moving into an institution. In turn, around 40,000 man-labour years would be freed up in the healthcare sector, which equates to around half of the expected shortfall for healthcare professionals in 20 years. This is the platform upon which Telenor can drive innovation with the help of its partners, cooperating with organisations that have the industry expertise, passion and ability to develop solutions based on the true requirements of the healthcare sector. .

Innovation Case Study: “Living Longer at Home” by Telenor Technical Overview Welfare technology is an umbrella term for various technical solutions that allow sick or elderly people to receive the care they need while still living in their own homes. These solutions can take the form of different sensors that detect incidents such as falls, blood pressure and involuntary urination, or security alarms and GPS tracking. The solution in use in the Vaernes region consolidates all the warning signals regarding a particular individual at a single location — in the electronic patient record. Telenor has developed an information centre that coordinates sensor signals so that they are sent to the correct application. Visma ensures proper response. Telenor utilizes the ZigBee communications standard to interface its sensors. All of the equipment used is capable of sending data from measurements, incidents and alarms. Information from these sensors is sent to the nursing care system in the municipality. All notifications from different sensors are gathered in one place and carers get a good and comprehensive overview of the user.

Innovation Case Study: “Living Longer at Home” by Telenor Technical Overview Welfare technology includes sensors such as: 1. Warning and alarm sensors Security alarms Fall alarm which is wrapped around user’s wrist like a watch. If the user drops, an alarm is sent to home care. The user can also manually trigger the alarm by pressing the button on the sensor.  Movement sensors Door sensors mounted in the door frame and detects when the door opens Temperature sensors that issue warnings when the temperature in a room is too high or low Water sensors that issue warnings when water is detected Bed sensors that detect when the patient is in bed GPS tracking specially adapted for people with dementia or who easily get lost 2. Health sensors Weight monitoring Blood pressure monitoring Glucose monitoring

Innovation Case Study: “Living Longer at Home” by Telenor Service Provider Telenor Norway is Telenor group’s wholly owned Norwegian operation. It is the leading telecommunications operator in the country with 3.2 million mobile subscriptions, 885,000 fixed telephony subscriptions and 868,000 broadband subscriptions. Telenor’s service portfolio in Norway includes fixed and mobile telephony, broadband and data communication services for residential and business customers, as well as a broad range of wholesale services Telenor Group is one of the world’s major mobile operators with more than 160 million mobile subscriptions. Telenor has mobile operations in 12 markets and in additionally 17 markets through its ownership in VimpelCom Ltd. Partners Project “Living Longer at home” is a collaborative project with Vaernes region, Visma and Telenor Objects designed for elderly and retired people in Norway. Telenor's subsidiary Telenor Objects has significant experience with M2M communication. Visma is a supplier of business software, outsourcing services, commerce solutions, retail IT solutions, and IT related development and consultancy. The partners' common innovation project aims at showing how off-the-shelf technology can be used to enable a larger number of old people to stay home longer and offer care personnel the opportunity to spend more of their working time on their core activities. Telenor Object's platform for data acquisition enables sharing information between sensors and applications in a secure and efficient way. Vaernes Region is the first in Norway to adopt this welfare technology that is connected with the electronic patient record. As a result, the region's health and welfare services are now able to derive benefits from a comprehensive overview of individual patients. :
