ERAA Coach Expectations The Future: Youth football is at the core of the program’s long term success. The youth football culture must be aligned with the high school’s mission. That mentality must start at earliest point of the football experience. Areas of Alignment: Base numbering system (even – right and odd – left) Play calling system for the offense (Rip and Liz). Cadence (Down, set, hit) Huddle Teach proper stance and splits (2-3ft.)

ERAA Coach Expectations Coaching East Ridge Football is about teaching and encouraging kids to develop their football skills and to have fun playing the game of football Safety (good fundamentals, hydration, etc.)is our top priority How we measure results and success of coaches – player development and return rate, not by number of wins. Team Formation Grades with multiple teams will all practice together to start the practice season(up to 2 weeks) Once teams are formed, coaches can decide the cadence of how often they practice/scrimmage with the other team(s) Goal is to have talent equally distributed between teams. Grade Coordinator will arbitrate team selection

Key Dates July 20th – Chalk Talk (7-9PM – Room 2045) July 26th – Chalk Talk (7-9PM – Room 2045) Aug 1 – Final equipment distribution night – 6:30PM TBD – First week of Flag Football Week Aug 7 – first week of practice - Tackle Grade 3-6 (1st game pre-Labor Day) Week Aug 14 - first week of practice – Tackle Grade 7-8 (1st game after LD) October 6– Youth Night – kids free with jersey. www.meyfl.org - Tackle Rules Grades 3-6 Know the rules - meet other coaches, ID skill players and be clear. Rule change: Grade 3-4: Pass only, Grade 5-6: Pass and run between tackles. NO SCREENS MEYFL and North Suburban scheduling Jersey’s this year… Need to fill - Board Positions: Director, Equip Coordinator, GC’s, Field Coordinator, Assoc Dir., League Rep, (2018) Volunteers – talk to your parents. Youth Night, Equipment Distribution and more. Tournament – May not host this year. Need coordinator. New selection process. Team Formation 1-3 teams per grade Balanced teams (No A/B teams)
