CHALLENGE-OPPORTUNITY MCX’s view and vision of and for energy, in particular electrical power generation is that the 20th century held a philosophy and practice of “build it big and ship it”.  The 21st century model is a “distributed” model, employing smaller scale power, waste water treatment and properly scaled and efficient infrastructure applications. Providing assistance to the masses of individuals without access to electricity and the basic necessities of infrastructure is a challenge that we energetically look forward to with 21st century solutions.  There is a great opportunity to bring decentralized sustainable applications to these countries (primarily but not exclusively in Africa) and leap frog the need to replicate what has grown to be challenging and unsustainable systems in the industrialized world. The MCX sustainable energy-infrastructure system addresses the key elements of: Power Generation (combining anaerobic digestion along with solar) Micro-Wastewater treatment units Telecom (delivery of broadband) Roads (using a natural enzyme material). The “backbone” of the “system” is housed underground in HDPE piping (4) equipped with nodes for GPS tracking and troubleshooting.  This renders the system weather resistant if not weather proof. We embrace the idea that “human energy” and health is supported and enhanced with the employment of urban and rural organic farming; using organic biomass soil amendments.  After all, the number one issue for every country and especially developing nations is “Food Security”. MARKET ANALYSIS Our Market Size Our Accessibility Geography  Nearly 600 million people in Africa lack access to electricity. Electricity blackouts occur on a daily basis in many African countries. Faced with this situation, people and enterprises often have to rely on expensive diesel power generation to meet their electricity needs, costing some African economies between 1% and 5% of GDP annually. The market opportunity can be measured in Gigawatts of power to be built in Africa. By 2030 an additional 250 GW’s of power is needed in Africa.  Because our model embraces a “significant local partner” we expect to have access to policy and decision makers.  To date, there are fifteen potential local partners of substantial means. We will only enter a market (country) after we have an agreement with a local partner.
