The mobile industry is booming Smartphone ownership is now reaching more than 50% in the UK and this is having a direct impact on the mobile payments industry with many people now carrying out transactions on their phone

Where are we today? Total value of mobile payments reached $240bn in 2012 10 times as many coupons are redeemed on mobile as they are via traditional channels 64% of mobile media users worldwide currently utilize their devices to conduct mobile banking up from 57% in 2011 At the end of 2012, there were 6.8 billion mobile subscriptions – that is equivalent to 96% of the world population

UK online gaming market UK online gaming market valued at circa £1.7bn Sports betting accounting for £650m 45% of all sports bets are placed via smartphones UK mobile game app downloads hit 567 million in 2012

Where are we heading? By 2015 the mobile payment industry is forecasted to account for as much as $1 trillion Total value of mobile payments is expected to rise to $670bn by 2015
