Special Populations Collaborative Project Laurie R. Harrison Project Manager

Purpose To improve special population student* access, performance, and retention in Career and Technical Education * Economically disadvantaged, including foster children Single parents, including single pregnant women Displaced homemakers Limited English proficient Disabled Students training for careers nontraditional to their gender

Activities Identify resources and effective practices Develop materials Develop linkages with other CCC collaborative projects, industry/discipline advisory committees, and regional consortia Provide professional development Track the performance of special population students

Organizational Structure Grant awarded to West Hills Community College District, Cathy Barabe, Project Director Laurie Harrison, Project Manager Additional staff responsible for: Core indicator analysis Professional development Resource and effective practice identification

Advisory Committee Interface Primary link to the Joint Special Populations Advisory Committee Report at meetings Jointly sponsor professional development workshops Workplan activities influenced by needs identified by the committee Also have developed linkages with the other CCC Advisory Committees.
