Senior Registration The Virginia Senior Citizens Higher Education Act of 1974 allows senior citizens to take classes at no charge on a space-available basis. 60 or older legally domiciled in Virginia for one year prior to enrollment Course types: Credit Courses (including ELI) Limitations: space-available basis and taxable income less than $23,850 in the previous year. New: This semester we are offering a painting and music appreciation course at Goodwin House. Course Audits (including ELI with instruction permission) Limitations: (no grade) and space-available basis Non-credit Workforce Development Limitations: space-available basis

Senior Registration (cont’d) For all courses you must: Complete an Application for Admission Call NOVA IT - 703.426.4141 - to obtain myNOVA password. You will need your myNOVA username and student ID number. Complete the Senior Citizen Certification of Eligibility for Free Tuition (Form 105–088) Register by 11:59 p.m. on the day before the session begins For help, please visit room AA194 at the Alexandria Campus.

Senior Registration (cont’d) Things to keep in mind: If you apply for free tuition AFTER you register and pay for a class, you are not eligible for a refund for that class. Senior citizens shall still be expected to pay course expenses other than tuition, such as laboratory fees. (Exceptions: fees for applied music courses will be waived.) Audit and non-credit enrollment is limited to three courses in one term. The College reserves the right to cancel any class. Registration is not complete until the senior tuition waiver form has been successfully completed and submitted within this same timeframe as registration. Submit the tuition waiver form immediately after registering.

MATURALS Developed in 1985 as an innovative senior citizens group that organizes and provides workshops, seminars, and presentations geared toward continuing education of senior citizens in the community. All MATURALS seminars are free, and open to all interested members of the community. All seminars will be held in room AA132. Free, reserved parking is available for the seminars Please register for Seminars you wish to attend and invite a friend or neighbor to MATURALS. MATURALS Digital Learning Day Workshops Offered: • Facebook and Twitter • Computer Basics/ Surfing the Internet • iPad/iPhone Basics • Video Editing Participants can choose any 2 workshops which will take place during 1 hour breakout sessions.
