2017 Budget - Expenses Highlights: Accounts for a 2017 Conference Joint Venture Payment for partnership with SME Reduce amount spent on refreshments at meetings SLC is proposing only drinks and light snacks for 2017 meetings Added line item for a scholarship SLC has approved this budget and business plan, and it will be submitted to ASQ by November 1st.

Section Leadership Nominations Nominations for 2017 Elected Officers Chair: Jennifer Leak (nominated by SLC) Chair-Elect: Karl Krull (nominated by SLC) Secretary: Open Treasurer: Open Nominations for all positions (including Committee Chairs) will be taken until September 30th Email with voting options will be sent out on October 1st (if more than one nomination for elected positions) Voting will be open until October 28th for Chair, Chair-Elect, Secretary, and Treasurer Committee Chairs will be appointed by the Section Chair Announcement will be made via email by Oct 31st

Lowcountry Manufacturing & Quality Expo October 4-5 2016 ASQ Members get Early Bird Rate Financial Status Poised to make a profit Proceeds will be split with SME A portion of ASQ’s proceeds will be set aside for our scholarship fund Spread the word about the event!

ASQ Charleston Student Scholarship Education Chair, Carl Betterton, prepared the proposal for ASQ Charleston to award a scholarship Proposal has been sent to ASQ Board for review at the November 2016 Board Meeting Scholarship Requirements: All applicants must be current members of Section 1122 or must be sponsored by an active member of the Section. ASQ membership number must be provided for applicant or sponsor. Section membership will be verified. Members of the Section Scholarship Committee are not eligible for sponsorship of this award. Applicants must be enrolled and in good standing at an accredited institution of higher learning. Applicants must be full-time students with a cumulative GPA of 2.50 or higher. An official high school or current college transcript must be provided. A completed and signed application must be returned and post-marked no later than 15 April. A 3-5 page essay supporting the theme: [topic will vary each year]. Scoring The scholarship award will be judged and selected upon the following criteria: Application 10 points Academic Achievement 25 points Community Services 25 points Essay 40 points

The Citadel Supply Chain Club and APICS Charleston Student Poster Session - Operations Management Student Presentations When: October 13, 2016 5:30 PM Where: The Citadel, Riverview Room **Limited street parking blocked by orange cones is reserved for attendees.** Cost: $20 Members and Guests, $10 Students (No charge for new members) Students in The Citadel School of Business (BADM 410) Operations Management classes will be presenting research papers and posters pertaining to Operations and Supply Chain topics. You will have a chance to critique and encourage students, enjoy a good meal, and meet highly motivated potential employees. Some of the topics to be presented: Ethics violations (Enron, VW, Mattel) Forecasting (by three local companies and how they differ) Hazmat Communications (SDS and NFTA) Project Management Six Sigma Overview Transportation Modes Professionals attending will be invited to judge the presentations, talk to students, and help form the next generation of young professionals. Students have been taught using the APICS body of knowledge. If you are looking for entry level employee or just want to visit The Citadel, this is a great opportunity.
