Common CORE Parent Video Here is a short video that explains the purpose of Common Core Standards.

Common Core Standards Common Core Standards address the need for our students to exit high school being college and career ready. The standards provide a clear and concise way which allow students to develop a deeper understanding of key concepts. Students learn by reading, writing, analyzing, and problem solving to approach real life issues.

Our Classroom Expectations Students are to come to school ready to learn. Students are to come to class on time and maintain a regular attendance record. We encourage students to make good choices and to be responsible, respectful, and safe. We reward positive behavior-Students earn Wildcat Tickets

Homework Expectations Students will bring home a Homework Log. They will return it each day in their homework folders and agendas, along with any completed assignments. Homework: Average of 30 min a night Students will complete daily reading assignments. They will read a minimum of 15 minutes. They will keep a Reading Log and turn it in signed on Thursdays. They will have daily math homework.

Homework Expectations Continued…`` Students will be assigned a weekly list of spelling words and vocabulary words to study at home. Students will practice these words by completing daily spelling activities. Homework and Behavior Logs are to be signed and returned on Monday- student clips up the chart and helps class earn class reward.

Grading and Communication Classwork and homework will be self and/or peer checked each day.- ,+,- Students will be regularly assessed in the areas of Reading, Spelling, Writing, Math, Social Studies, and Science.

Grading and Communication Continued… A daily Behavior Log will be brought home indicating how students are progressing towards mastering the social skills that will help them become more respectful, responsible, and safe as they grow older. Progress Reports will be provided every six weeks and Report Cards will be prepared at the end of each trimester. Progress towards mastering Common Core CA Standards will be shared.
