Leave Entitlements Leave Eligibility Coverage   Pregnancy Disability Leave (PDL) Current UCSF employee and pregnant Up to 4 months, if medically necessary Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) 12+ months employment at UCSF and 1250 productive hours worked in year prior to leave Up to 12 weeks per calendar year CA Family Rights Act (CFRA) Facilitator Notes: Productive time does not include SK/VL/HOL etc. FMLA and CFRA can run concurrently. Test Your Knowledge Betty began working at UCSF on 1/15/2015 and has worked 1,300 productive hours. She begins her PDL on 12/13/2016. Is Betty eligible for FMLA/CFRA? Sally began working at UCSF on 10/12/2012 and has worked 800 productive hours in the past year. She begins her PDL on 11/15/2016. Is Sally eligible for FMLA/CFRA? Which of the following are counted toward productive hours for purposes of determining FMLA/CFRA eligibility? Actual hours worked, including holidays Actual hours worked, including holidays and sick leave Sick, vacation and comp time accrued None of the above Facilitator Notes: Betty does not qualify for FML, but may qualify during her leave period. Sally does not qualify for FML as she has not worked 1,250 productive hours. D. Only actual hours worked count toward FMLA/CFRA eligibility. Pay While on Leave Payment Method When Applicable   Sick / Extended Sick Time (EST) During disability benefit waiting period or periods of illness not covered by disability benefits. Disability Benefits Liberty Mutual and/or California State Disability (SDI)* Once waiting period is satisfied, disability benefits will continue for 6-8 weeks following the delivery.* Vacation / Paid Time Off / Compensatory Time During periods of leave not covered by disability or Sick/EST. Facilitator Notes: Employees who have worked for UC for less than 18 months must apply for SDI. 6 weeks for vaginal, 8 weeks for C-section. LM coverage may continue beyond 8 weeks in cases where there are complications resulting in mother’s disability (e.g., off work early due to restrictions, or post-partum complications) Pregnancy Disability Leave Workshop

When to use Leave Accruals Accrue When Applicable   Sick and Vacation Must use up to 30 calendar days regardless of wait period. PTO and Extended Sick Time (EST)  Must use: 3 shifts PTO first (8 and 10 hour shifts) 2 shifts first PTO (12 hours shifts); followed by (EST) up to 30 calendar days regardless of wait period Additional Vacation and PTO/Comp time  May be used during wait period Pregnancy Disability Leave Workshop

Disability Benefit Options Eligibility Coverage Liberty Mutual Standard Disability UC employees eligible for benefits. (UC paid benefit). After satisfying the 14 day waiting period, up to 55% of monthly earnings or $800 per month, whichever is less. Liberty Mutual Voluntary Short-Term Disability UC employees eligible for benefits who have elected to pay into the voluntary short-term plan. After satisfying the 14 day waiting period, up to 60% of monthly earnings to a maximum of $15,000 per month. CA State Disability (SDI) Employees who have worked for UC for 18 months or less, or UC employees with concurrent employment outside of the UC system. After satisfying 7 day waiting period, up to 55% of weekly earnings. Facilitator Notes: LM Standard $800 is taxable LM Voluntary is not taxed after the first $800 SDI only for EE’s who have worked at UC < 18 months. Benefit is non-taxable. Scenario: Employee A - Last Day worked: 01/30/17 - Estimated Due Date: 02/06/17 -Wait period: 14 days - 8 hour shift; Monday - Friday - Sick Accruals: 80 hours and - Vacation Accruals: 220 hours Pregnancy Disability Leave Workshop

3/21/17 until exhausted; then unpaid until return.
